The building is named for the philanthropy founded by Diana Blank, who funded its $30 million construction and operation on the Georgia Tech campus as both a laboratory for eco-sustainability and a classroom. Regenerative design principals feature the collection and reuse of rainwater in a 50,000-gallon cistern, generating electricity from the rooftop solar panels, composting toilets, and sustainable gardening and honey-gathering on the upper deck.
